Default what's the diff between wet and dry intercoolers?

ok i know there are intercoolers where you can run coolant through and ones that dont. do most intercoolers allow for you to run coolant through them?

Dry intercoolers represent most of what is installed in street vehicles. This kind uses the ambient ram air for cooling. Wet intercoolers use a water mist injection system to spray water in front of the intercooler, thereby effecting an evaporative cooling effect (much like how a swamp cooler works).

Typically a intercooler is as stated above but if you are looking to keep your turbo cool you might want to look at a watercooler turbo rather then an air cooled to go along with the intercooler... the intercooler setup with a intercooler sprayer is the way to go and will gain more power for you.A dry intercooler is subject to heatsoak from your turbo where as a wet one allows you to mist the fins of the intercooler and eliminate heatsoak (which can rob you of horsepower).

basicly water-type intercooler use a lot of stuff (exta water-pump,water reservoir tank and such) and makes it/the car more heavier, but with a water-type i/coolers the manufacture can use LESS/SHORTER i/c piping, makes the turbo boost a lot quicker.. usualy a water-type ic is mounted at the TOP of the engine (like those toyotas celica GT4 3S-GTE engine).. so the charged ic pipe is shorter.. with an conventional air to air i/cooler usualy it is mounted at the front .. the i/c piping is quite long..boost a bit late..
