Probably not a bad price at all. If you figure most places I know charge $75 an hour labor and a new rack and pinion system is probably not cheap, I would say that is reasonable.

i did mine years ago for about $500, so it' s not that bad considering...

you can get that part for around $350. so you are paying another $350 for labor. divided by a fairly standard rate of about $80, looks like hes charging you for about 4 hours, maybe a little more of work. that sounds reasonable to me. i say go for it.

probably get a re manufactured rack installed at the dealer for that price,and the will stand behind their work
