...the transmission? Well i want to buy a car from dis guy, its a 96 civic hatchback manual. his selling it for $2900...He says dat its kinda difficult to change gears from third gear, and i was wondering if it was a problem with da transmission. I dont want to buy a car with a bad transmission and then pay more for da trans then da car.

Its either in da window da sheild wiper motor or da torque setting's of da valve da stem da nuts. Check da boff of da dem.

could be a simple clutch adjustment unless it has a hydraulic clutch, then things get to be fun, get back to me, either way, it is a simple solution. ive done that one in the parking lot with nothing more than a pair of vice grips(FUN) but looking at the fact that it is only the 3-4 gear shift i doubt it, what does he mean by difficult. physicaly hard to move the shifter, or it grinds going into gear or what?

well i tell u this.. try to have the transmission oil flush and changed.. (make sure its enough)..thats all.. it wont cost that much.. this will solve ur gearing.. if not.. u kno wut to do.. p/s this is not the clutch problem..

did the guy beat on the car?? if he did he might have bent a shift fork. ive been driving my nissan for 5 yrs with a worn 2-3 syncro... at high rpm i cant get it into third but anything less 2500, it slides right into gear. if this honda trans acts like my car then its probably a worn syncro and you can drive on a worn syncro for quite some time so long as you dont beat on it. not going into gear at all unless you have to really force it sounds to me like a destroyed syncro (gears would always grind when trying to put it into gear). with a bent fork either you cant get it into gear or you have to really force it into gear. depending on how bad its bent. sorry but both of these scenarios indicate a bad or near bad trans.

its probably not the trans,is the shifter really sloppy,its probably the shifter bushings,and is relatively inexpensive,take it to the dealer,I'm a Honda tecnician and have seen this many times,i would take it to the dealer,
