Default 'maintanence req' indicator flashes in Honda Accord 2001?

I have Honda Accord 2001 with 92K miles on it. I recently got a tune up (changed spark plugs, ignition wires, anti freeze & fuel injection) done 5 months back. I got my last oil change about 1600 miles back. After, all this 'maintanence req' indicator started flashes yesterday. So what could be the possible reason?

Probably the oxygen sensor.

take it to a shop and have them do a diagnostic - could be a sensor or something gone bad in the emmissions system

The maintanence required light only comes on when it is time for scheduled maintenence. They probably did not reset the light when you got the tune up done. Just take it back to the dealer and tell them, they should do it free of charge to reset it. I would not really worry about it though, the maint. req. light is different that the service engine soon, that is the one that you need to worry about.

the maintenance light is tied into the speedometer and is keyed off of the last time it was reset. when it flashes it means you're coming within 1000 miles of the next recommended service based on the last time it was reset. When you approach 500 miles to go, the light will stay on constantly.I can save you a trip to the dealer. Here's the procedure to reset the maintenance light:1) with the key in the ignition and the ignition turned "OFF" so that nothing is on, press in on the trip odometer button and hold the button in.2) continue to hold the trip odometer reset button in and use your other hand to turn the ignition key "ON" so that the lights on the dashboard come on. you do not need to start the engine. I usually use my left hand to hold the button in and turn the key with my right.3) continue to hold the button in until the maintenance required light goes out. If the light just started flashing, the light may stay on steady during this procedure or it may flash; either way, wait for the light to either go out or stop flashing and go out. This will usually take about 10-15 seconds but will seem like forever.4) once the maintenance required light turns itself out, turn the ignition key OFF. the light is now reset for the maintenance interval on the car. The maintenance interval on that car will be reset for 5000 miles for the 4 cylinder and 3750 miles for the 6 cylinder.hope that helps

it sounds like the fuel filter or air filter then you might have to take it to a shop and have them do a computer diagnostics test on it to turn off the light and to find the real problem

The Maintainence Required light only comes on when the ECU thinks the vehicle needs to be serviced! Take it to the dealership and they should be able to reset the system. Not familiar with accords, but on my 97' Civic, there is a slot to put the ignition key into, that will turn the light off! Iff it were the check engine light that was on however, then one of the O2(oxygen) sensors is most likely bad! Sounds to me like a minor problem though....Good Luck!
