I bought a 91 Honda Accord Ex last week through a private party sale. Everything worked great when I took it for a test drive, however, my speedometer doesn't work most of the time now. It works now and then but usually not. My check engine light also comes on about 2 miles or so down the road... not all the time though. Is that because of the speedometer? How do I check the Engine codes and where can I get information on deciphering them? Thanks!

If you can get to an Auto Zone.They will do a diagnostics test for free.Your speedometer runs off a cable and may be seizing up.Sometimes it can be relubricated.If not. Get it replaced.It has nothing to do with the sevice engine light.

Jump the two wire connector at pass side at glove box. It is prob. the speed sensor

With a 91(obd0) you shouldnt have to do a jumper wire. Just look at the ecu under the seat and count the flashes on the led or the check engine light flashes. Houston-imports.com search there for ecu code and reading. Its really cool to do something yourself that is actually easy. Or you could go to auto zone. The speed sensor WILL set off the ecu if it goes out.
