Default Is a short air intake really any better than a stock air intake?

I'm thinking about switching from my stock intake to a short ai intake, but I've heard so many bad things about short air intakes (SAI). So is there really any benefit to having a SAI as apposed to a stock intake?

A short air intake is not always better. A stock intake is designed mostly for suppressing noise. The main goal should be to improve air flow and suck in cold air. Not all intakes are designed very well.

intake is not measured by the look or the brand.. but the quality of the filter-element and heat sheild properties..remember engine's need optimum nice clean cool air..if u familiar with race engines (circuit, rally) you will noticed that ALL race car got humongus big air-box made from carbon fiber..and were using filter-element.. not the open-pod type.. thats why all racing car have to relocated the battery at the rear boot..
