Most generic PS fluid is or was red, haven't changed any lately to see if its all clear now, but it used to be red. Probably nothing to worry about.

If your replacing the power steering pump you need to use the Honda PS Fluid because if you don't it is likely the other fluid will cause it to leak from the seals, The newer cars are making there own fluids so you will use them, if not you will likely get a leak, so be safe and use the Honda's PS Fluid, It sound like the other person used transmission fluid and in older car that's OK but not the new ones.Good Luck and GOD Bless

red is normal because it gets used and turns color. brown or black, and you have issues. Transmission fluid is often substituted because its cheaper and works just as well.

DO NOT use anything but honda brand fluid. Anything else will cause damage to your pump. Trust me , my father has been a Honda mech since 1974.
