Default How can I pick a better engine for my 2000 civic ex?

I own a 2000 civic ex, and I might swap a K20A engine instead of my stock D16Y8.But here comes the problem, my friend own a 97 prelude and it has a H22A engine.Does it mean even I swap the K20A in, his car still faster than mine.If so, the honda Accord, CRX......all those engine or car must faster than mine no matter what ?coz I check one the spec of Accord and CRX engine, their max horsepower and torque are all higher than even a Type R engine the K20A.I just hate all of my friends told me their car must faster than mine coz the size of their engine is bigger than mine, like 2.2L, 2.4L or even 3.0L from a old old Accord.

just because his car has more displacement does not mean he will be faster than you. you can still blow his doors off. the K20A is more efficient and weighs less so i'm sure your car will be fast. remember ur civic weighs less than that prelude as well. stick with what you got. the aftermarket support for the K20A is huge. i know you will find something that is made for ur car. it's to easy to make that thing a beast..think about it.

Your wanting more than that though. The H22 is overrated. Unless its the newer one they only boast 190 hp, but the prelude weighs 2900 lbs, which does not make that hp so great. Putting that engine in your car would be a waste of time. It will run so much better in your than his due to the 600 lb difference, but your car will sit like shit. Your engine bay will look like a sardine can as well. In all honesty for what you can put an H22 or a decent K20 in there, your best off throwing in something that fits good, and moding with the rest of the money. For instance the LS vtec is so proven, that they have a kit for it. For the oil line taps. This engine is smaller, and spues more Tq because the displacement in the LS block, but has the higher revs of the b16 vtec. This is a reliable setup, as you may hear about it alot. Build the engine, and turbo it, and you only loose minimal torque as you gain substantial HP which due to the honda engines, is the best thing with that high rev limit. If you build that ls vtec right, then let your friends run their mouth all they want that i got a bigger engine. Just tell them to step up to the line, and not even fully built you'll get them by at least a car length in the quarter. Prolly 2.Check out the forums. hondacivicforum.comohiohondas.comand anything else you can. you can get a hell of a lot better deal on this ls vtec than you can for either the H22 or K20.Hopes this helps, and good luck tuning.I get alot of this stuff cheap enough through my buisness. Decide to do something a certain way, and you can send me a request for parts, and i'll hook you up with a price partner.Inquiry@rowenspeedmotorsports.H22 = Overrated.Used to have one.
