run to Circuit City or Best Buy and get the little wire clips. trust me, it will save you headaches and creating problems and issues.I put new speakers in my Blazer awhile back and I tried to do it the old way, just splice and twist. What a pain trying to figure out what was what in colors. After 2 hours and 1 door, I gave up and hit the store. Mine were $6 a door for harness. Well worth it. Had the other 3 done completely in 20 minutes.
