my son bought himself a '78 civic for $1200 in good shape so compare----probably not a bad deal. I've always been to stay under 200,000 mileage when buying a car

I would say you would be lucky to get 1000. But then list it for what you think and go from there. Sell the car based on the service maintenance history.

I've seen Hondas with 300,000 miles on them before, so 185K on a car thats 16 or 17 years old isn't so bad. You should ask the owner about the following issues and test drive the car yourself; when the timing belt, clutch, brakes and tires were last changed, find out the oil change schedule. When driving, make sure you dont hear any eratic noises (keep in mind the car will idle roughly when the car first starts), especially making sure the wheel doesnt shake much when braking (could be a sign of needing new bake rotors). Ask for any receipts of previous work to show proof. Im sure others can make ammendments to my suggestions... If you can get to under $1500 and there are no problems it might actually be a pretty good deal.
