The problem with swapping various sizes and years of engines in modern front-drive cars is not bolting it in mechanically (although that can be a problem if there are minor changes from one year to the next.) The problem is in the engine management system which will be incompatible between your 1.5 litre car and the 1.6 litre engine. You may have to change much of the forward wiring harness and it would be a nightmare. In addition, some states (like California) prohibit swaps like these and you could end up with a car which can't be smogged or re-registered each year.I would stick with the original engine for your car. There are numerous used Japanese engine dealers which sell low mileage units from Japan which will be a perfect match. I would go that route.

All you will be doing is changing a D15 engine to a D16 engine. Tranny, wiring harness and all the parts from your D15 should be interchangeable. Join JDMcivic.com and post these questions on their forum. You will get much better responses there.
