Do I have to pay for a brand new bike rack, or can my luggage rack be modified to accomodate bikes? I can't really tell from the pictures...OK sorry...let me be more specific...I have the Honda factory luggage rack. We added it on when we bought it. It is on top of the car. I’m aware that they have a factory bike rack for the top of the car (I don’t want the one for the inside that uses the seat mount), and I’m just wondering if they can alter the current luggage rack and add some attachments to it so It can hold a couple of bikes. I’m not trying to shell out for a completely new rack and waste the money I’ve spent on the luggage rack…

Is the luggage rack on top? If so, I would say get one of those bike racks that carry your bike behind the vehicle. They mount to the trailer hitch under the bumper.Either that, or you can just toss the bike up there and hold it down with bungee cords.

Instead of throwing a bike and tying it down on your roof rack, see if you can maybe part with the stock luggage rack and get a Thule combination system. It has one setup for all of the accessories they offer, and there are a wide variety of accessories to fit whatever your need. The trailer hitch style racks are good, trouble is, you have to have a trailer hitch to attach it to, if you have one on the car. I would highly suggest the Thule roof rail and accessory system. It is the most diverse and easy system out there that I know of. Hope this helps!
