modifications. What to do? I added a muffler tip for the sound effect but that's all. I was considering a cold air intake. The more detailed your answer the better for me.

Without improving engine performance the only options left are removing the seats from inside and changing the aerodynamics of the car. Also stick to driving in whatever direction the wind is blowing. If you live in an area with hills... you get the point..

You always get what you pay for. Cold air intake gives you very limited gains. It only works well in conjunction with other mods. It is cheap though. Makes more noise than power, sometimes leeches power from your car if your system isn't balanced. To get the most bang for your buck change out your headers for an aftermarket set. Then change out your exhaust piping and add the intake. Cam sprocket to advance your timing.Suspension will have an effect on your launches and your traction during autocrossing. Lower is not necessarily better on a Honda Civic. Stiffer suspension and stiffer chassis will allow you to roll around corners harder. Wider rubber on the wheels. If you drop your car make sure your wheel camber angles are properly set or you'll break traction easily on launch.Speed in a sport compact import is a function of dollars. But in the end, unless you spend some serious dollars, a Honda Civic is not a fast car. So don't be overzealous and spend thousands of dollars on mods to make it go almost as fast as a better car.

get on ebay and buy a new exhaust header that`ll improve your flow... try new plugs(iridium) and leads relatively cheap...a cold air intake is fine but best with full exhaust system...cams and pulleys... raise compression a bit then work on gearing or just stick in a 50 shot of NOS easy power...or try d-series.org you should be able to get detailed advice on what to do to your exact model... ultimately boost it, then it`s not a slow Honda anymore but i high reving slag that eats v8`s

The problem with your 2006 is that it no longer uses a D-Series motor, it uses the new R18 motor, which is a brand new design and doesn't have a whole lot out for it yet, things like intakes and exhausts are "baseline" modifications, and give you maybe 4-8 HP at best, which you probably won't feel a lot of.
