First of all, the trim level is different. The EX model has a higher level trim than the LX. Honda's trim levels go from DX, LX, and EX; EX being the highest. It also depends on the model of the car, whether it's a coupe or sedan. Both the coupe and the sedan can have a 3.0 L V6 or a 2.3 L I4. Obviously the V6 has more power and torque than the I4.

Actually, they have the same engine. They are basically the same car. The EX comes with a few more bells and whistles. It includes standard alarm, engine immobilizer, 4 wheel anti-lock brakes (the LS has standard 2 wheel anti-lock brakes), optional leather interior, standard keyless entry (optional on LS), moon roof (not available on LS), CD player (cassette is standard on LS). Some of these standard options for EX are also available for LS models. The LS does offer almost 2 inches more headroom than the EX (supposedly sportier). But as with many cars, there's the basic model (no bells or whistles), then the LS (power windows and doors, etc.) , then the EX (most standard luxuries available). Hope this helps.

dumenuff... has said it all that is the difference between the two... I couldn't have said it better! There is NO difference between the engines unless you purchase a 98 Accord V-6. then it would have the same as a regular 98 Accord EX but with a V-6 engine.
