Default Is it a good idea to get a Spoiler on my 2001 Civic ex Coupe?

I was wondering if it would be aerodynamically beneficial to get a spoiler (Stock type) on my 2001 Honda Civic EX coupe? I know it looks good and all, but will it save on gas at all or make it more stable with that type of body? Thanks!

I own a shop, and have seen this done before. A spoiler if it is the correct one can in fact help fuel mileage. The one thing you have to watch for is; don't get one that is too long and sticks out any on either side of the vehicle, or it will drive funny and the rear end will get loose at higher speeds. If it is a spoiler made for the vehicle, then you will benefit from using it. Glad to help you, Good Luck!!!

I cant see getting better gas mileage as it will create more drag, and as far as performance goes, its front wheel drive, you dont need down force on the rear wheels, it will actually give you worse performance.

No, I don't think so, I just think it would make it look ugly.

spoilers only take affect at extremely high speeds. other than that they are there for aesthetics. if it makes u happy to look at it then go for it. here is a quote from the web:1. Does a spoiler really do anything for my vehicle? The effect a spoiler has on your vehicle depends on the shape and design of the individual model. Most factory-direct and factory-style spoilers and wings have little or no effect on handling, speed or drag–they're just for decoration. Those factory models with some change on aerodynamics or down force act to stabilize a vehicle's rear axel at high speeds–much faster than legal limits. There's a good chance that you'll never feel any change or need the benefits of a spoiler, other than its race-inspired looks.

A stock OEM factory Honda spoiler is not meant to give any kind of performance benefit, whether it's for gas mileage or power, it is purely cosmetic and has no benefit whatsoever.
