Auto?? manual?? and by how much?? manual u cant overfill, oil wont go past filler hole. AUTO nasty IF you put to much in and its way up on dip stick you can blow seals start fires go to jail for road hazard and any other nasty shit u can think of. in short NO GOOD NEWS. sorry about that. p.s have fun drainning excess my heart goes out to you. been ther and paid the price NASTY .

If you overfill the transmission you will NOT hurt your engine nor will you hurt your transmission. Now it is not good to overfill it and I would suggest draining some of the fluid. You should have 4QTs of fluid.... (no matter if you have an auto or manual.) Overfilling your transmission will make the car to shift funny... basically like it would if you needed a new transmission. Your best bet is to just drain the fluid into a clean container and then replace/ refill your transmission with the right amount of fluid.
