Default Honda Accord 91 problem with starting in hot weather?

When the temperatures are high in summer and the car stays for a couple of hours under the sun I can't start it. When it cools down there is no problem. Several times I succeed to start it after spraying some starter spray into the air filter. I also heard about clogging on the air in the gas tank but it doesn't seem to be a proble. Any suggestions? ThanksThanks grizzbr1.Doug K: It cranks but doesn't fire.

Definitely sounds like vapour lock or a fuel line problem.Could be a loose fitting sucking air somewhere (in line fuel filter probably),could be a problem with the return line to the gas tank, could even be a faulty gas cap causing problems. That age car could have one or many causes.

this is a common problem with these cars....i own a 92 accord and i keep a spare in my truck its so common...the problem is your main power relay under the dash...it turns your fuel pump on as well as your pcm....the solder joints inside of it crack and when its hot they expand and then loose contact there for no start...call your local honda dealer they should have them instock for about 60 bucks!

Yes, its common for this year accords for the main relay to go bad. It is located under the drivers side of the dash up by where the clutch pedal is or would be. Its a little gray boy bolted up behind the fuse box. Some models you have to move the cruise control unit to get to it but its a easy repair. just one 10mm bolt holding it in with a connector. If a cruise control is in the way its just another 3 10mm bolts. very easy.you can easily make sure it needs it by tapping on it or in the area while cranking over the motor. it should start.another way to be sure is see if you have spark. its also common for the coil or igniter to go out. to isolate, pull a spark plug wire out and hold it against a ground bolt. (don't hurt yourself) it will sting if you touch it and crank over the car to see a spark. if you have spark, Replace the main relay, as its a simple relay that turns on the fuel pump.6 years as a Honda factory tec- I've made $$ on this repair, good luck..
