Default For a honda civic, B18b engine or B16a engine?

I have a 98 civic DX, have done many exterior mods, it looks fast but everyone that nows about hondas, knows that the DX has verry little potential unless an engine swap. I know this question has been asked before but I want to know why you would choose one over the other or if you really dont think their is a big diff? and which one is more reliable? and the easiest and cheaopest install?

as far as dificulty goes, they're both equal in difficulty. To put a b series into an ej chassis. Swap the drivers side motor mount and the rear tranny mount with that from a 99-00 civic si(em1) or get a nice set of swap mount like those from hasport. You can use the axles and shift linkage from a 94-01(dc) integra series or from a 99 si or again get higher quality axles and linkage from hasport. As far as price b18b will be cheaper due to the the price of the engine but the only way to get real performance is to build an ls/vtec or to go turbo. however, it will be torquier than the b16. the b16 will give you more initial horse power and a higher rev limiter along with a shorter geared tranny, but b16 has its limitations best bet would be to go with a b18c gsr motor.

B18b is a great platform. Very reliable and cheap. Use 87 fuel, swap costs about $2000. Easy to install with no major wiring at all. B16 is also great. Very rev happy motor, uses 91 octane, costs arouns $2500 for the complete swap. Same to bolt in but requires more wiring. I would go with B16 if you do not plan on turbo. B16 in stock form is much faster than b18b. B18b would be great to use for turbo or just to be a little faster.Konrad
