i bought a 2000 honda civic si with GREDDY exhaust on it. Is that an illegal exhaust on my car?

depends on where you live, states have different decible limits, and some states just dont care... also depends on if it has a resonator or not, also a cat,,, my sister has full greddy exhaust on her crx si and its quiet compared to my 300zx.

It depends where you live. If you live in an area with emmisions testing the car will have to pass the test. This is still possible with an aftermarket exhaust as long as it still has a catalytic converter. Some places also have noise pollution laws so if it is really loud they may not give you a sticker. Before I knew a good shop to go to I drove around and asked everyone to listen to my car before I actually asked for the inspection. If they said it was too loud I went on to the next place. Even if your car passes emissions and there is no problem the cops may get their panties in a bunch and still give you crap. Just make sure you drive really slow and quietly around them dirty pigs.

no, most Greddy exhausts are 50 state street legal, but it depends on the cops in ur area. If u get pulled over u can get a ticket for modifed exhaust.

If it is cat back or axle back and under 95 decibels then you are fine. After the catalytic converter the exhaust fumes are already filtered and the muffler has nothing to do with smog. Its good to go.
