Default Why does my '98 Honda Civic suddenly have daytime running lights, and how do I disable them?

Apparently my car has decided that it wants to be Canadian. A few seconds after the car is started, the headlights come on. About 15 seconds after the car is turned off, the headlights turn off. If I turn the headlights on via the switch, the tale and side lights come on in addition to the headlights. This just started a few months ago. The owner's manual says that only Canadian models are equipped with daytime running lights.

Lots of vehicles today have switches on the dash that you can adjust things like how long the head lamps and interior lights stay on when you turn the car off I had a Lincoln that would turn the head lamps on when it got dark with a photo cell on the dash. but if you had this you would not be asking this Question. I have disabled day time running light by locating the fuse and removing it this has always been a separate fuse from the normal head lamps.

1997 and later Honda/Acura. To disable the highbeam DRL for all Hondas/Acuras 1997 model year or later, just look for the DRL fuse in the fuse box under the dash. It should be a 7.5A fuse. There is another one that is 10A, but it doesn't need to be removed. This worked for both my 1997 Honda CRV Canadian version and 2004 Acura RSX

That's...weird. Maybe you have an electrical problem. Any how, I personally would keep them. I have to get a car with auto on headlights because I always forget to turn mine on. That makes the police mad apparently.
