Default I have a 01-02 4 cylinder Honda Civic. Oil stick is bone dry. How many quarts should I put in it?

Add a quart at a time and then recheck until it is at the correct level.

its best to add ASAP put in a quart and check, keeping adding 1/4 quart at a time until you see oil on the dip stick then add only small amounts until you reach the full line - but remember to let the oils settle between each add and check as the oil takes a few minutes to flow down and do not over fill

Best thing to do is to drain it all then add fresh oil according to the Honda manual. Then, check it every couple of weeks and add oil if needed (like 1/2 quart at a time).

The engine's capacity is 3.4 quarts of oil.It is 1 quart from the bottom dot to the top dot of the oil dipstick.Your engine requires 5w-20 but 5w-30 will work if you can't find it.If you have been driving around with that little oil for a long period of time...the oil would be the last thing I'd be worried about.Has your car been running hotter or has it overheated during this time?If yes, then I would have the car checked since low oil can cause damage to alot of engine parts. If your car is losing oil there are problems that need to be checked.
