Default On a 1990 Honda Accord EX, 2.2, SOHC, Automatic, which direction do I turn the Crankshaft lock

bolt ? I have the special tool to lock the pulley, but I'm worried that I might shear the bolt if I try to back it off in the wrong direction.

Well when it comes to Crankshaft Pully Bolt on Honda engines it comes OFF Counter Clockwise & tightens clockwise.....but if you planning to take out the crankshaft pully please keep in mind that in order to tighten it back you MUST have a TORQUE to ensure the required tightness...IF you tighten the Bolt TOO much in time to come the crankshaft pully will wear down & give way (spin freely & wobble) you will have to change the entire crankshaft & crankshaft pully ...i assume you going to change the timing belt...if so & you have limited information of what you about i'll suggest that you have a mechanic present or take it to a professional.... i'm guessing you decided to take the job up yourself to save cost......why i say this cause it happened to me & it's costing me an engine....Yes i had the manual & followed everything but (1) i did not have much experience doing mechanic work (2) i did NOT have the TORQUE tool.....anyway good luck with it & i know you will make the right decision...

I have always told people the easiest way to remember is Left for Loose, Right for Tight. Can't go wrong

Turn it to the RIGHT, you may have to jiggle the tool a little bit when if geels tight just to be sure it's on tight, there could always be debris in the way of getting it as tight as you need it. Good luck!
