1989 Honda CRX SI D16A6 SOHC Non Vtec This vehicle will not charge when the air temp out side is 50 degrees or below. The colder, the worse. It is 36 today and I had to jump it off my truck and leave them hooked up for over one hour. Once it starts charging I can disconnect it and drive normal. Untill it sits for more than an hour or two, then it won't charge again. I have replaced the alternator three times, rewired twice, replaced the battery four times, replaced both fuse panels (hood & dash) twice and the main relay and fuses several times. Never a difference. I thought it might be the ECU so I pulled it out and took it in and let it warm up over night and it still didn't help. I AM GOING KRAZY!!! I'm not sure but it could be a bad ground to the body or motor. I had a jetta that wouldnt charge right any time, and it ended up being a loose ground that went to the motor. That could be it I don't know for sure but try and see. I had a 88 crx si 1.6 sohc like yours one time and the headlights and dashlights use to go up and down like it wasen't chargin but I never had a problem.

Something is eating your battery. A wire may be loose and its releasing lots of energy out. If you have problem shifting gears and feel like the car is moving slow and and its gonna die on the road, then change the clutch. It must be something in the engine. Check the water thing and the gas tank that's connected to your engine to start your car. Maybe its not getting electricity to start the car. Get professional help! If that can't help then i suggest swap motor. Your motor may be too old to run.
