i have a 92 model 1.5 EG8 civic fuel injected automatic...My mechanic time back the engine recently...but a few weeks after i heard a noise coming from the Crankshaft pully ,when i looked at it ..it was wabbling....That day i took the job of a mechanic & took apart the power steering pump /Air-condition compressor & timing belt cover to get to the timing belt.....What the damn Mechanic did NOT do was tighten the BOLT on the CRANKSHAFT PULLY propperly on the camshaft.....well the CAMSHAFT & key wear down due to the wabbling so i made back a key for the camshaft & crankshaft pully but it did not hold on long today i started hearing a knocking noise i checked the bolt it was tight ..but this time the CRANKSHAFT PULLY wabbling so badly the belt for the power steering pump /Aircondition & Alternator kicked out....i towed the car home & still thinking what to do now...how am i going to fix this CAMSHAFT & KEY...is there a way i can fix this ...? i need help fast please anyone !!!!another thing which one tends to wear the CRANKSHAFT...OR CAMSHAFT....i hope i using the right name for these parts....for sure i know the name of the PULLY at the bottom of the engine ..it's the CRANKSHAFT PULLY....but the gear the crankshaft pully bolts up to is what..? ?

It just so happens on the Civic's from 91 or 92 and up. [ its when the v/tech's first came out ]. If you OVERTIGHTEN the power steering belt it will break the crankshaft. Believe me I know because I broke a couple of them after I installed A/C's in them. you would think thats impossible but i'm telling the truth. Honda's cure for that was to use a wing nut instead of a nut to tighten the belt. I use to use my air ratchet to tighten them and i guess it was to tight. If your crank isn't broke try shimming and use the RED thread lock and torque to spec's. Sorry Good luck
