My handbrake cable is in good repair, but when i use it, i have to almost pull the handbrake right to its very top travel before the rear discbrakes work. It barely holds the car on a hill. Any suggestions and/or diagrams to sort this problem would be gratefully appreciated. Thank you

the handbrake cable adjuster is behind the centre console plastic trim this needs to be removed to adjust

under the hand brake, you should be able to remove the material, and then you need to tighten the cable to the right or to the left. Either way, if you are going the wrong way, you will see the cable get looser, in that case just go back the other way and you will see it get tighter. just make sure you do no tighten it to much so that the cable or brackets do not snap or bend.

It is a good idea to jack the rear of the car up while doing this too. Block the front wheels, take the console out surrounding the hand brake, raise the rear of the car, pull up the hand brake till you hear one click, turn the adjuster nut clockwise, rotate the rear wheels until the brake just start to drag on the rear wheels. Release the brake and make sure you can turn the wheels without any drag. Put the console back on, your done.
