i was buying a car it's a 1987 honda civic but the guys says it needs head work how much would it cost me to change the whole head or just to get it fixed is it possible to get the parts from a junk yard and he is selling it for 250$

Do yourself a favor and just assume it needs an engine rebuild, now ask yourself is this 20 year old civic worth it and what else might it need? I'd say have it checked out by a mechanic for a whole car assessment, it may need 2000-3000 (tires/brakes/exhaust, etc,etc) to get up to speed and that's if the body is good.
