Re: how to reset navigation system pin number on Honda accord ?
I have a 2004 Accord Ex w/ Nav. For the first time in 5 years, pulled my battery to fix a headlamp. Now I can't get my radio, navigation or display working because of the #&*! PIN number required by navi to unlock. (anti-theft)
I looked thru the manuals, plastic binder that houses them (with VIN and other numbers on it), inside the glove box and in the sunglass and storage bin areas, there are no pin numbers written anywhere I can see!
Asked the dealer, and they have the records of when I bought the car, and several pin numbers in their computer, except for the NAVI. The mechanic there told me they would have to pull the navigation unit from the car to get to the back of it to see the serial number on it, so they can look up the PIN from the manufacturer (Alpine? Honda?) and he expects they will charge me for this!
Seems irresponsible, they "lose" my PIN and then charge me to dismantle the car to fix the problem? Should I call Honda USA? Demand the dealer fix for free?
HELP!
