Default My civic AC just stop working suddenly, help!?

Hello, my 99 civic EX AC just died over night. Ive noticed as usual check up since its winter, but today we got this artic chill blast in Jersey, 4F cold cold. So I cant figure out what happen here. The controls respond to speed controls, and blows super hot air in the hottest setting as normal, and cold air in the cold setting and the controls respond to positions of the vents. I noticed that when i had the AC on, I heard this click noise, just like you do, when you activate the rear defroster. The AC lights up and on and off when u change it, but no response. In the manual, it states to check some fuses ...As far as fuses, looking at my manual, these have to do with the functions related, however I quite dont know what they are for, can someone let me know?1. Heater, Air Conditioning Relay2. Heater Motor3. Magnetic Clutch, (A/C), Condenser Fan (A/C)4. Cooling FanI know the left fan cools down the engine, what does the right fan DO? I noticed it only turns on, when the AC is activated and functioning. The fan right for now, does not spin or turn on at all,not working. I heard or read somewhere that this FAN only blows when AC is activated, but quite dont undertand why?

I've gone through two AC compressors on my civic. It's possible that your compressor crapped out (and the compressor belt is off or broken). In that case, the light will still come on and you'll get a "click", but nothing is really happening. If you can locate the compressor, then see if the belt is still on and if it rotates when you turn your AC on. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, perhaps you should have a mechanic take a quick look. I doubt they'll charge you look at it quick.

i would take your civic to a dealer or local workshop with an A/C refilling machine. You may need the aircon fluid changing. If not they will be able to take a look and will let you know what is faultyhope that helps---------------------------------Edit in responce to added infoAir Conditioning Uses fluid To change the temperature of the air and in doing so it gets hot. Hence the second radiotor to keep the fluid cold to alloy you to have hot or cold air to your choice. Seems that the fan could have died or the fuse for it is blown, would explain why you havnt got cold aircheck the fuses in the fusebox and it that fails have a garge look at it matehope that helps

The low pressure switch may not allow AC to kick in to protect the system from damage caused by freezing. Don't get upset until it gets warmer, and you make sure that AC is really dead. The second fan cools down the AC evaporator - the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics requires it-, and it kicks in when a. AC is on and/or b. Engine temperature reaches 200+ degrees.

It's working perfect, the pressure switch keeps the compressor from running when it is freezing out side, wait until you have a warm day before you mess with it.
