but ok when warm?

Your engine works harder when its cold to warm up to idle temperature. So if your Spark Plugs or any part of the ignition is not making a good contact, your going to get a misfire. I can suggest to change your Spark Plugs, Wires, and Distributor, which should cost about $100, but the absolute best thing is to take it a Honda Specialist to find out what the real bug is.

If it is reving then not reving then reving again, and only at cold start up until it is warm, then I would say check you evac solenoid. located behind the intake manifold on the drivers side. There is a vaccum hose that goes from it to the evaporator canister located in front of the passengers side under the hood at the firewall. When there is a vac. leak in that ciruit it revs up and down constant normally until warm but also can continue after warm up. Check that solenoid for leaks or cracks. Mine, the line broke at the fitting and you couldnt see it laying down under the intake. And the fitting tube was still in the vac. hose, so to find where it went was difficult. So just look at that solenoid and see if there is a vac. line to it to the canister. You should have a sticker on the hood showing you this vaccum circuit. Good luck with it.
