The power doors won't lock when these are open so I have to pull the handle and switch the lock. and lately I have been having problems with opening my car

all honda's have a lock out safety. you cannot lock the drivers door by pushing the tab down nor by power locks. you have to either hold the handle out and then hit the locks, or use the key once you exit. honda puts this on their cars so people don't lock their keys in their car. every honda does this.if you are having issues with the locks, your key might be getting worn from age and use. have a new one cut and polished on the edges to handle the worn locks.

awi is correct. We have an 89 and 98 and 03 and that has always been the case.
