Default Check Engine light on 2003 Honda Accord LX?

I have a 2003 Honda Accord Lx V-4 and the check engine light came on about 6 weeks ago and has stayed on. The car has over 110,000 miles on it but still runs great and has not needed any repairs. Is there anyway to turn off the light? The service engine soon light that comes on every so many miles can be turned off but I do not know abou the Yellow Check Engine Symbol.

Emissions control. Your on board computer is telling you their is a problem. This would be a diagnostic issue. Check with a mechanic, they can put it on a scan and probably tell you. It could be many things.

Could be something with your catalytic converter or your emissions system. It could also be a problem with your O2 Sensor. I had a 2002 Altima that had an O2 Sensor problem that was causing the check engine light to come on. Have someone run an O2 sensor test and then an engine diagnostics test.

The check engine light is on for a reason Your computer in your car turns that light on when it gets a trouble code. take your care to auto zone or a parts store near you Most can read your codes on your computer And tell you what is wrong. If you go to Auto zone, Pep boys, Advanced some chain store they read the codes for free Hint save some money that way. If you take it to a dealer right away The will charge you to do the same thing you could have had done for free. The code reader can also reset your check engine light to. If you remove the negative cable from the battery and leave it off for 5 min it will sometimes reset your computer.

It could be any of 13,000 things, from loose gas cap to a broken EGR valve. There is no way to guess. The only way to know is to get an OBD-II scan. Ignore these idiots here who say it might be an "O2 sensor or something" or try a better gasoline- those are universal languages for "I have no idea what I'm talking about". There is absolutely no way to know what component failed. The good news is it's not a serious engine issue unless the light is actually flashing/blinking. Based on your description, we can safely assume that an emissions component has failed, so it's more a concern for the environment than your car right now.

MANY HONDAS HAVE THE AIR SENSER GO OUT IN THERE LATER YEARS. THAT WILL MAKE THE ENGINE LIGHT GO ON. HAVE THE AIR SENSOR REPLACED. THATS MY BET
