I parked at home got out retrieved my mail got back in and nothing!!!!!!!!!

I had this problem with several of my cars. Try turning the steering wheel first and then insert the key.

Your steering wheel is cocked.Move it side to side while trying to turn the key.

1. Turn your steering wheel hard in one direction and turn the key simultaneously.2. Make sure your gear selector is in PARK.3. Press down the brake pedal BEFORE you turn the key.

It could be several reasons.1) the key is worn or damaged and it no longer can trigger the ignition switch properly2) the ignition switch is stuck and needs to be repaired or replaced3) there's some sort of fail-safe mechanism active on the ignition to prevent the car from being started

Try turning the steering right or left. There is a locking mechanism in the steering wheel and key that sometimes get snagged. If you can move the steering wheel slightly, it will probably free up the key.

Gearshift in park, right?Try pulling on the steering wheel, first one direction, then the other, while attempting to turn the key.Sometimes the car is parked with the wheels turned such that pressure in the steering column prevents the key from turning.

Whata ya mean you can't turn the key. Is the ignition locked or is there something wrong with your wrist motion? Whatever the case make sure your stick is set to P or move the steering wheel from left to right as you turn the key

My husband had this problem last week. Guy told him his ignition switch is shot....The tumblers are out of allignment...$300 to fix." The tow driver said, "put your key in and tap the key with a hammer, not so hard you break the key, but a good tap...and then try to turn again." Scary. Obviously not a long term fix. Also, make sure you have it completely in 'Park'...or it won't start.

you got a dull key or a rotted key holesimple as that
