If you think you have a fuel problem, maybe you should try fuel treatment. This happened to me once, and all it was was water in the fuel line that had frozen.$2.36 and half an hour. No more problems.

On your fuel rail you'll see a valve that's used to check fuel pressure. Check it b/4 you spend $

in answer to the Q you can go to alldata.com and sign up with their D.I.Y. program it coasts about $25 dollars but it gets you manufacturer directions diagrams, and testing instructions.however, you need to check spark, air flow, and fuel pressure. before deciding why it won't start.

you can get wiring and parts diagrams from www.autozone.com and its free.just sighn up if you turn the key on but not start you can hear the pump slightly if you want to test the pump get 3/8 hose 2 feet put one end on the fuel pressure regulater its on the end of the fuel rail right side then the other side of the 3/8 hose put in a fuel can after this turn the key on but not start for a min.then check if there is fuel in the can if there is nothing in there fuel filter or fuel pump, if there is fuel in there then something with the inside distributor or spark . the 3/8 hose should be about 2-3.00$ can should be 1 gal. for 4-7.00$ this is better than over 100.00 for part the pump is in the tank so labor will be alot. hope this helps.

I don't think it is your fuel pump, it is probably the main relay, located under the left side of the dash up behind the fuse box bolted at the top under dash, it is a very common problem on that model, do you have a check engine light? do you have spark? check it out.http://www.hondahookup.com/

u need to chek...the most common problems with them accords is the main power relay...it causes no power to the fuel pump and no fuel...u need to get a wireing diagram and check and see if the fuel pump is getting power when u first turn the switch on...if its not replace the main relay...there very very common

When you turn the key to on position(second click) do you hear a faint pressurisation of the fuel system? Of course turn off the fan and radio to best hear the noise. The noise comes from the middle rear of car under the seat. If that is not happening it may be the main relay instead of the fuel pump itself. Main relay costs $20 used and is easier to change before taking out the fuel pump. Main relay is located under dash drivers side, typically a maroon coloured box with a ten mm bolt holding its bracket. Fuel pump I think is under the seat bottom and is also not too tricky too change. un plug two electric connections take out eight ten mm nuts and then slide out the unit. disassemble out of the car on a workbench to replace the pump and then reassembly reversal of dis-assembly. 3 hours tops.

The fuel pump is inside the gas tank. but there are other things that will keep it from starting you don't want to remove the gas tank if that's not the problem. There is a relay called the (main relay or the main fuel relay) under the dash on the driver side this controls the fuel pump and it more common for this to fail than a fuel pump on a Honda.

Default Re: my honda accord 1990 wont start i think its the fuel pump.?

Don't know about your problem but my 1990 honda accord will not keep running unless you hold the key in the ON position, and once you let it go it stops running, I have been told that it is either a fuel pump problem or the ignition switch is going as of yet it has not stopped while running on the roads. Any more ideas as to my problem but I believe that after intwernet checks it is an ignition switch problem which I am going to replace and hope it fixes this problem.
