i have a 1992 accord that runs just fine... once you get it started that is. (no, its not the main relay that runs the fuel pump). i'm getting a code 15; "ignition output signal". and once you get it running, it runs for a short amount (random) of time and then dies, throwing that check light/code. the entire ignition is new, distributor, cap, rotor, coil, wires, plugs, all new. the car has 167,000 miles on it but the engine only has 81,000 on it. you can follow the other thread i have at http://www.hondaaccordforum.com/horr...9757/tm.htmand if you have any more ideas. please... answer them! this is my only mode of transport to work and school... i need itin reply to "says me" it has nothing to do with fuel pump... its somewhere between the distributor and the ECU... there's fuel, you can see it and smell it, but no spark.sorry, and occasionally, it will fire up, but for 60-90 seconds at a time, requiring a few hours before it will fire againin reply to menace and dondawg the ECU is just fine, if it was having problems, i wouldn't be getting fuel... the problem lies within the ignition system... all of which ran fine... actually... perfect... for almost 2 minutes before dying

your code means what it says - the ignition is not sending a 'run' message to the fuel pump to simplify the relay gets it's juice from the ignition circuit and it is not getting any ( so check the ignition switch and wiring )the 'run' message works as follows - when you turn the key on a signal is sent to the computer which allows current flow to some systems - when you turn the key to start the computer receives a signal to start the engine ( including the starter, fuel pump , ignition and fuel injector system ) when you turn the key to off it shuts down the systems - so it all starts at the ignition switch and that is one thing you have not checked ( try starting and running the car with a remote starter ) ( also if you have an alarm system then a relay that stops the fuel pump or shuts down the ignition is sometimes included ) ( just a few more things to check ) THE FACT THAT IT RUNS FOR A SHORT TIME IMPLIES AN ALARM SHUTOFF ( it is sometimes included as an anti-high jacking system in aftermarket alarms so the thief get shutdown but not while he is close enough to harm you )BUT WAIT IF YOU PUNCH IN : HONDA CODE 15 on a Google search you will get diagnostic steps seems that is a simple sensor problem !!! and i spent all this time guessing ( lol at me )

I would replace the electrical part of the ignition switch. Honda's around that age and mileage usually have worn switches and cause several no start or start then die problems. Sometimes you can hold a little pressure on the key "just enough to keep the starter from engaging" and keep it running.
