Default I'm having some problems with my 91 Honda Accord....see details...thank you!?

My Honda surges when my foot is off the pedal, my shifter is locked up and has to be manually unlocked everytime I turn the car on, my cruise control doesn't work, and my back lights won't turn off unless I get under my dashboard and hold in a button....any advice before I take her into the shop? Thank you!!

Just take it in. I work in a garage, and I find that if a client has an idea in they're head its harder to reason with them. Technicians are not stupid people. Have them diagnose the problem and go from tehre.

i mechanic for a living ,and own a shop, most of the stuff you have named off is really minor repairs to make,,some of it might be expensive though, like the cruise control, but id just tell them what was wrong, and go from there, and tell them to call you before they do any real expensive repair work to it,,if you don't,,you may go back, and the bill may be more than the car is worth,,good luck hope this help,s.happy new years.

your sensor has gone out, the one for the cruise control is tied to surging of the gas. your sensors need to be replaced and check your distributor now to see if your getting any oil into it. but the sensor for your cruise control is on the transmission and your odometer should be acting up at times also if your cruise is not working. also buy a book on your car and take it honda cerifiited mechanics only. honda parts for honda cars

Your car is 16 yrs old. Treat yourself to a New ELEMENT!! lol.... I'd be getting some sort of 'estimate' on that surging problem. That 'shifter' lock-up screams transmission probs....Good that some Mechanics chimed in here....they can make or break you. If u have one that is honest...that's terrific...bring presents with you,,,Next to your Dr., few tradesmen/people r more crucial for you.... 16 yrs is a long time for a car.... Try 2 B as 'safety-conscious' as u can also. That surging/shifting stuff sounds serious/dangerous...Good Luck 2 ya....
