The button probably has something to do with the suspension settings. Sport suspension would give a more road feel like a sports car. I 'm guessing.

It changes the RPM at which the transmission shifts. Sport mode will let the engine rev higher before shifting. Normal mode will upshift at lower RPM, thereby improving gas mileage.

It has nothing to do with your suspension. It deals with the transmission and the RPM it shifts at.When in drive you're tranny shifts at normal RPM. When in the Sports mode, it will shift at higher RPM giving you a "sports car" feel. Try it. Just look at the RPM when you're in 1st-3rd gear in drive. Then put it in the sport position and you'll see, feel, and hear the difference. My 91 Prelude has the same thing. It has an S3 and S4 mode. S4 shifts higher than S3. The only problem with this feature is that it wastes more gas because you are shifting at a higher RPM.

BA4 is exactly right, it has to do with your tranny and your RPM's it'll usually change between a three or four gear tranny when you push the button, sometimes depending on who makes it (honda, toyota, etc) it'll go to a five speed.
