Default I have a 2007 Honda Fit and was wanting to install an auto start. Would my dealership sell this?

Also, is there a recomended brand to use? It gets cold in the winter where I live and I have to walk through the yard down the hill to get to where I park my car so it would be very helpful.

They should have told you if they had it before you drove it off the lot. Or maybe you should have asked. Usually an item like that is aftermarket.

no...the only factory remote start is GM..however, your dealership can probably put you in contact with someone that can install an after market system..(275-400 dollars)

The dealership probably would not offer this as an option for the Fit. And if they were to refer you to sombody, it would probablt come out being very expensive (because the dealer would get an incentive for the refferal). Now, you have purchased a Honda...First of all, congrats, they are great cars you will love it. Second, Hondas (if you haven't noticed) are very easy to modify without problems and friendly towards aftermarket products, electronics included. Installing a remote start system in your vehicle would be an easy task, just tedious to whoever will be installing it. All that is involved in the installation of a remote start system is splicing into the vehicles' factory wiring and installing the CPU/Controller neatly and out of the way. If you are someone who has some mechanical knowledge and understands basic electrical systems, then this might be a good weekend project for you to do. If not, DO NOT attempt to do it yourself. Most remote start/security systems include installation instructions, but seem to only confuse those who try to decipher it. The instructions would even confuse myself (having 6 years vehicle electrical/installation experience). Most good shops offer installation and I would only go to one from a refferal from a friend or someone who had a good experience. If you are just looking for Remote Start without security expect to pay about $250-$300 Installed with the system. Remote start with security and keyless entry systems could run you up to $400+ with installation (eeek!!). Oh yeah, some good reputable brands would be any of the Directed Electronics systems (Viper, Clifford, Avital, etc.) that are made by the same company and stand behind their product. Stay away from the lesser known brands that are probably owned by a fly-by-night company.I was once someone who would pay someone else to perform work on my car, simply for the fact that I didn't know anything about working on them. But after some wrench time and adventurous spirit, I don't think there is anything I couldn't do myself (with the proper tools of course).Good Luck!

First of all - it's a brand new vehicle with Honda warranty - while that warranty is great , it's not so great if you get a remote starter that's not Honda approved especially is it caused something else to malfunction. Secondly, after checking with your dealership as to which kinds are compatible you absolutely need to have an authorized dealer install the remote starter in your vehicle to validate the warranty.Anyone who says you can install the remote starter yourself is giving you the illusion that it won't affect your car's warranty. If something were found to have malfunctioned and can be directly linked to a self-install you could be "sol" when it comes to having warranty repair it. Do you really want to take the chance?Remote starter are wonderful in winter so please check with your Honda dealer first. Expect to pay in the $450 - $600 range for a compatible one.

Not a recommendation but Best Buy sells and installs them. Would consider them versus a private garage. You'd have some accountability that way. My fit is due middle of next month and will be taking it there to have my wife's remote starter installed.
