Default why does my car stall?

I have a p1457 engine code on and my car just started stalling. It says EVAP leak detected and tank cannot hold vacuum. A shady mechanic told me it was the charcoal cannister. Ive had the light on for a month noew and just yesterday uit started stalling. Is this going to be a difficult expensive fix?Sorry its a 99 honda accord
