I hear its a scam, the ck engine lights may come on at around 70k. this is a dealer scam so you bring your car in for the "honda" maintenance, what a joke. Guess these jap cars have problems too huh??

It's not a scam. And yes, any given make or model on any give day of the year can have a problem. Man and machines can't make a perfect machine. And no matter how well you do or don't take care of your Honda, it was bound to have a problem eventually. You don't mention the year, make, or model of your car. Give use more detail on what is going on. Have you had it scanned and cleared? Could have been a temporary situation. If it's a 94-97 Accord, I can pretty much narrow the problem down given the codes. Lord knows I had problems with mine.

Yeah, doing routine maintenance is such a scam...you, sir....are a moron.Take your car to a place where they can pull the codes. I guess AutoZone does it free of charge. See what codes have been tripped, it could be something major or it could be something as little as an oxygen sensor. The only joke is you, if you choose to ignore it. Check engine lights just dont turn on because they feel like it.

Yeah it is a real scam. Some of the Honda models have a zero clearance engine and at about 70K or when you break the timing belt all the valves will smack the top of the pistons and the car will no longer run.You will then needto replace the engine.Much more expensive that just some regular maintainence.

Check engine lamp will only light on, if there is a problem with the engine. All cars have problems, when the check engine light is on. Problems arises due to neglected maintenance, such as oil changes. There is a Oil Change Reminder Lamp, that lights on when the next oil change is due (sometimes the engine oil lamp will turn on). They have that kind of feature when the auto manufacturers introduced the digital odometer (to prevent tampering of the odometer). That's the reason why everybody who has a digital odometer with a check engine light on (or Oil Change Reminder Lamp is on), freaks out, go to the dealer and reset it, after they did the simple oil change.

My wife and I have a 2003 Honda Accord, we got the light signal right about 70,000 miles. I have taken it in and everything checks out jut right. I give it a maintenance every 3,000 miles without a fault. So yes I believe it has something to do with job security. If all cars need to come in at about 70,000 miles there will always be a lot of work. I do believe there is a conspiracy on this matter..
