Default Honda Accord 2003 Check Engine Light?

I have a honda accord 2003 (4 cyl). my check engine light came up while i was driving and when i came to a stop and shifted to Parking, the engine got shut down by itself. After I started again, the car engine ran well, and when I shifted to Drive and back to Park, the engine again got shut down. My mechanic took a look and said the fuel pump needs to be replaced. Does this sound plausible?

probably not. you need to have someone scan it with obd2, and it will tell you what code is setting.

I have never heard of the CHECK ENGINE light coming "ON" and it ever being related to a FUEL PUMP problem. Ask him/her why they consider this as being the problem. Usually the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS RELATED TO ENGINE SENSORS MALFUNCTIONING. OR ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS.

ok check engine light, as far as i know check engine light reffers to a sensor being faulty o burned out, and you can take it to an auto zone or a mechanic and ask them to scan your car computer and thus revealing the dvise and or mechanizm that is at that instance at fault and or desabled due to wear and tear.

Not completely impossible but highly improbable. The check engine light is there to monitor ignition and emissions sensors and readings. There is no sensor in the fuel pump BUT if the fuel pump is putting out an excessively low pressure it is possible it would be on because the vehicle would see a lean run condition (that means there is a lack of gas firing in one or more cylinders). But the improbable part is that the fact is it takes more fuel pressure to start a vehicle than it does to keep it running so if your fuel pump was going bad your car normally would just not start but there are those times that doesnt happen. If they pulled the code from the engine it would help me a lot to know what the code and description was so I could help you more but hopefully this helps a little. Good Luck!!!

HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE PROBLEM SOLVER. I SPENT LOTS OF MONEY, EACH TIME IM TOLD THE MACHINE SAYS SOMETHING DIFFERENT. BASICALLY IT COMES DOWN TO THE MECHANIC, FIND A TRUSTWORTHY MECHANIC. YOU CAN ALSO TAKE YOUR CAR TO A PLACE LIKE AUTO ZONE. AUTO ZONE CHARGE $0 TO PUT ON THEIR DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE. DOING THIS YOU WILL SEE FOR YOUR SELF WHAT THE TEST RESULTS READ... HAVE A SAFE HOLIDAY

if it dosent fix the problem get him to put the old one back in at his cost and fix the problem properly you do not have to pay for labour and new parts if they do not work and argue that point the fuel pump maybe hard to say without testing it myself
