Default A question about my 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid...?

I recently purchased a 2003 honda civic hybrid. Sometimes after i drive around and shut off the car i can still hear the fan running, its kinda loud. It takes a couple minutes or more to shut off...is this normal? Also, if i turn the car back on then shut it off again right away...the the fan shuts off.

the cooling system on the engine is controlled by a thermostatic switch. so when your engine is warm it will run until the switch tells the fan motor it is cool enough. Remember this, that the coolant is flowing thru the block and radiator only when the engine runs. so your coolant will get hotter when it is absorbing the heat from the engine when you shut it off. there isn't a problem, it is normal. so try an experiment. start your car when it is cooled down completely, run it for 5 minutes and shut it off. is the fan running? next time when the engine is cool run it for 15 minutes aT IDLE AND SHUT IT OFF. DOES THE FAN RUN? THIS WiLL WORK IF TEMPURATURES ARE NOT REAL COLD LIKE ABOVE 40 DEGREES F. and get rid of the hybrid now before you have to buy batteries. that is why it was for sale..

Well the SPOTLIGHT guy pretty much has it right. But his last comment about having to buy the batterires worry not. Honda has a warranty extension on the batteries for 10 years or 150.000 miles so enjoy your Honda it will do right by you.
