Well, if your car still has the rev limiter engaged, then you don't know what you are talking about. Go do your homework.

Is it a standard or automatic??Best way to improve traction is to get better tires. Although throttle adjustment is the cheapest way. You need to listen to the engine and feel the car don't just floor it. You can tell when it is starting to slip, you just let up on the throttle a little bit.

if you really want your civic to hook up well and still have the power you want your gonna have to spend the money on tires.messing with your throttle might let you not spin as much but you just wont have the power . i assume you dont have a full on drag car so you probably dont need racing slicks . i suggest a pair of drag radials they hook up better then street tires but wont break your budget like drag slicks they blend in good too.

ok. well have u tried moving off at a lower RPM? If you are trying to launch at 5k then ur tires are deffietly gonna spin. try launching at 3k. also u can try a stickier compound tire, adjusting your suspension, get some traction bars, heavier rims, softer springs....... you have to play with everything. try differnet combinations to get it just right........

Launch at 3k then depending on how good your power shift at 6k or 2k before redline .

I had a honda civic 180i Vtec and i noticed on take off if u release your clutch too fast it spins and trows you out of VVT the best way of tacking off with a car with like that is to take of at about 6000rpm releasing the clutch half way and once reaching about 3500 rpm double clutch and you on your way. It seems difficult at first but you get the hang of it.

lighten up on the gas when ur releasing the clutch. keep it below 2,500rpm and u should b fine. also if its cold outside than ur tires might be cold and hard, so they wont be gripping the road as they normally would.

if your car pull momentarily to one side while the wheel skids, check the skid mark on the road. If the skid marks are unequal, then install limited slip differential(LSD), or try launching your car at lower rpm mine civic vti 98 suffers same problem, i installed lsd it solved the problem
