I got a key from Ebay for £25 for my Ford Probe. I didn't set the code and the day arrived when I lost my original key. Four attempts later (half an hour each time) and the car started. Thought I'd better switch off and try it again just to make sure the code was set properly and it wouldn't start. It was just a 'get you home' key. One use and thats it. So my advice is don't buy one from Ebay. Scrap - yard?

Easy Peasy, just get any fob from the same model car off ebay, then just find a recoding specialist. They're common (for the very reason your asking) and easily found in yellow pages or on yahoo, they normally charge about £30 to £50 depending on the car.
