Default I have a new 2006 Honda Civic with 9500 miles on it..just replaced brake pads..car having...

...problem stopping? The car has problem stopping..and smoke billows out from under the wheel well..they have replaced the Pads twice..could this be a master cylinder problem..even if the car is new? This first occured on the left front wheel well..smoke billowing..nasty smell..then they replaced them again and this time happened on the right front wheel well..billowing smoke..and yes i heard a grinding noise which led me to this..sounded like bad pads..which for 9500 miles is insane to me..Also, only thing that has been replaced so far is pads..which i didnt take to a dealer since i didnt thinks pads were covered under warrantyIt turns out..that apparently on the 2006 Civic LX you really need to use OEM parts..and they didn't ..the OEM parts are woking great..kinda weird if ya ask me but..so far no problems..

Sounds to me like someone either used the wrong parts or put them back together improperly.

take it back....maybe a bad installation? why would a car with 9500 need new brake pads anyway?

Unless you're racing this thing on the weekends, which is a joke for a Civic, there's no way that the brakes on there should last less than 30,000 miles about. Could it be that the brake caliper isn't backing out all the way? If they replaced them, they must have been pushed back though. That's pretty wierd though, you should take it back and show the mechanic what's going on.

You are probably leaking brake fluid onto the pads. Anyway, the car is under warranty. Make it clear to the mechanic that a nice fat lawsuit is in store if your brakes fail and you are in an accident.Bad brakes are very serious so don't mess around. Get them fixed and fixed right. Honda will pay for everything.

I have to agree with the comments that 9500 miles is way the heck too soon to have this trouble. Something is malfunctioning. Is this happening on both sides in front, or one? If just one could be brake hose or caliper on that side causing that side to stick. If on both sides could be brake porportioning valve or ABS unit not letting fluid return or go in properly enough. Also could have trouble with the rear brakes not working as if they aren't working at all can cause the car to be hard to stop and make the front brakes smoke when you lean on them. All this is easy for a mechanic to check and should be easy to fix with the exception of the ABS unit that is probably not the trouble in the first place as they don't go bad very often and certainly not at that low miles. Check for dealer service bulletins on this as well as the New Civic could have some sort of defect that is just showing up and the dealer should be well aware of it.

Sounds like the pads are sticking or not retracting. Clean the the break pad seat area with a wire brush then lube. Also, the calipers might be bad, and a air leak is causing the the pads not to retract.

This is something that you should have your local dealership check under WARRANTY right away.the dealer would warranty the brake pads at this mileage...However you may want to check for an oil leak. There is a very well known problem with the 06' civic where the power steering fluid can be leaking on the side of the engine which can leak down to the brakes if severe enough. please refer to Honda service bulletin #06-020 there are also 3 locations that can also create and engine oil leak and this may be something to investigate. It may be as simple as the brake caliper but just thought this might help because it is very possible a very common oil leak problem like this could get oil on the brakes
