Default buying a honda civic, need information?

my friend has her heart set on getting a honda civic, and we are going to the dealership to get one. when negotiating price and whatnot, what are some counterpoints i could use about the car to get the salesmen to come down off the price or put us in a better negotiating position? i know theyll probly bring up the whole hondas last forever etc., i need to know the bad sides and what other cars i could say we are looking at and are better, and anything else thats negative about them. thanks!

Does she want new or used? Do some research. Know the exact model and options she wants. If new, find out what the MSRP is and decide what's the max you'll pay over that.If used, see what the car is going for on the web and set a max price. The finance aspect could be a problem. It will depend on whether she's paying cash (already has financing) or looking to get financing from the dealership. Her credit score will then come into play. Stick to your guns. They need the sale more than you need the car. If they jerk you around, go somewhere else.

One of my vehicles is an 11 yr old Honda Civic and it looks/runs great! So yes they do last. But do your research on websites like:http://www.edmunds.comhttp://www.consumerreports.comSee about getting a printout of what the car actually cost the dealer. Also, you can check to see if any MFG rebates and/or cash incentives are being offered. If you prefer not to haggle and belong to Costco, Sams Club, or BJs -- they have car buying programs with usually prices about $300 over dealer cost.1. She should have financing in place before she goes.2. Knows exactly how much car payment she can afford.3. Don't accept the undercoating, fabric protection (stuff they add and it's not worth the cost.)Hope she enjoys her new Civic!

well honda civic is kool..but this is the main point here..1 is she go for look then i guess she will like it but there are too many people have it.,on the road and soon or later they will change teh look againt....the civic is has been changing to like 8th generation of look on one speicific car.....and different people do different think on it 2...if she go for performance then i guess not on the civic cuz civic only have 197hp on the 06 civic and is fwd so not that dependable on racing or street race..and if she get the 04 or below civic is dont have 197hp...the performance of civic was one the lowest and bottom of the line compare to all the car in honda....3.if she go for lon lasting car...then civic the one..cuz is weak is dont use much power when drive..and is made for long lasting....on performance..u can go on a road trip at about 400+mile plus on a 95 civic with 150 k on it...is last long then any other car on honda name....after it reach to 200k is will start having problem and then 205k is broke down...recommend: get an accord or fit or hatchback...cuz accord have power long lasting...and style..but lil pricey more then civic...i use to work for honda dealer the number of percentage of accord sold is more then civic

Just be honest and ask for the current market price of the car. The dealer will know what it's selling average is on the price within the region over the past 2 to 3 months. Being negative about the car is only playing a game that the salesperson will see through. I would ask the dealer to make the first market price offer. Don't haggle back and forth more than two to three times before you are satifisfied that they have given you their best value. Value isn't always the lowest price, but may include added value such as free service, tires, etc. So play it smart, shop honestly and ask for what you want.

Well if your buying new I don't thinkyou can bargain down the price unless it's used but as to the finacing I would get my own so first before you go searching call to your bank and see how much you qualify for first because the salesman is gonna milk you on the financing part if you want a good deal on the car.
