I have 130, 000 miles on my car. I need to change the rear hubs on the back wheels which is probably going to cost me around 400-500 dollars. This needs to be done...because evertime i accelerate beyond 50 m/hr...there is a loud noise coming from the back of the car...extremely loud...like the car is going to explode. This is bad for the engine...or so the firestone ppl say..what do you think?

Not bad for the engine! Bad for your health though. If it seizes it's gonna suck. It can cause you to get in an accident... Or the bearings could just desidagrate and your wheel can fall off.Yes it's worth it.and not that bad of a price. Shop around you maybe able to get it done cheaper.

i own a repair shop, and yes its worth repairing,as opposed to buying another car but i think you can get it done a lot cheaper, there just replacing the rear hubs, and bearings, and that's kind of high for what there doing, because the parts aren't that much for that car,so id check around before i just let them do it,i know you can get it done a lot cheaper somewhere else, it isn't good for the car,but id check around for a better price on that job,,good luck,i hope this help,s.and have a good Thanksgiving.

first, it depends on what other repairs the car might need. if you only spend that $500 on the car in the next 6 months, you're getting a pretty good deal on a car (compare $100/month to how much it would cost to buy or lease a car that doesn't require repairs). second, 130,000 miles is practically new for a honda accord. unless there's some major problem or you're driving it in a way that will ruin it fast, it should have a lot of life left in it. consider your options. you could buy another used car to replace the one you have, and it will come with unknown repair needs. you could buy a new or slightly used car, which will cost a lot more than repairing the accord. you could fix the accord. or you can switch to public transport.

If you have changed the oil and taken care of your car.. with that many miles you should get many more out of it... I know someone with over 300,000 miles on their Honda and is still running... YES.. get it fixed if you like your car... its worth it...

I agree that it would be worth spending that much to fix this car if it's been a good, reliable car for you so far - Honda Accord's are supposed to be good cars. I had a 1991 Ford Escort that I got 175,000 very reliable miles on, so, I'd say your car still has plenty of life left in it as long as it's been properly taken care of - regular oil changes, etc., etc. I agree with the others that it might be good to get a second or third estimate of the repair cost, though. Not that I know what the repairs SHOULD cost, just that it's not a bad idea in general.

For Gods sake, DONT take Firestones word for it.Take it to some other place, and I dont mean a tire store or quick lube.If it turns out that you need $500 dollar repair to a 94 Honda with only 130,000 that is not bad.The car is probably worth $3500 or so.
