Default I have a 1998 Honda CR-V with factory alloy wheels. Do you recommend wheel locks to prevent theft?

I know some people who have wheel locks on their car, even though they just have factory alloy wheels like I do. Not exactly bling-bling. I always thought that the odds of a criminal actually jacking up my car and taking the wheels off was really, really unlikely. I'll be moving soon to a large city, so do you think I should reconsider the locks? My wheels are probably worth about $600 total, I'd guess. Wheel locks would cost about $30 total. Worth it, or a waste of money? Do they even actually work in preventing theft, or can criminals just break them anyway? As one of the answerer's pointed out, I forgot to mention where I'll be parking my Honda. I'm an apartment-dweller and will be parking it on the street.

i think they are a waste of time...and if you're one of those type of people that puts things up and they get misplaced then it will be more costly than you think. Theft of alloy rims is not that prevelent. I think investing in a locking gas cap would be a better investment you can put that key on your ring.

You need to check the crime rate in the area you intend to move ,you can also check with the PD in the area you are moving . You did not indicate if you were going to park in a garage or on the street at night . On average Honda regular alloy rims are not in high demand ,so it is 50/50 . If the $35+ for the locks is no problem go ahead if it will give you peace of mind , make sure you put the special key wrench some where in your car and dont loose it as it will cost even more to have the dealer unlock it if you loose it.

FYI, they won't jack it up. They'll just remove the lug nuts and bounce that puppy till the wheels fall off. Grab and run. Freaky, huh?

Go t a auto store and buy a set of lugs that you have to have a key for i forget what they are called.. And keep the key in a place that you wont forget...like the Frigidaire or something..
