Depends . . . some are, some aren't. I had a 96 Accord and i was always asked V-Tec or not, so probably same for Civics . . . might or not.

it depends on the engine some are vtec and some are non vtec

All honda civics between 96-2000 are vtec enginesthe lx and dx which have a non-vtec produce only 115 hpbut the vtec makes 127.

The EX's are the ones that come equip with VTEC as opposed to DX and LX's. The EX's are easy to distinguish besides the EX on the back, they have color match side mirrors and sunroof.

every 96-00 civic ex/hx are v-tec, lx,dx,cx are all non-vtec, the 96-00 civics do not say v-tec on the valve cover unless its an si with the b16, all 92-95 ex's do.

yes all civic EX models since 92 are vtec. Some other models were vtec too but that for fuel improvement not for horsepower that would be the VX model
