Default How long can a typical Honda last?

Assuming you are the average driver, average everything...how many miles long can a Civic or Accord typically last until you start seeing some potentially major problems?

I bought a used 91 7 years ago.Considered it a disposable car since I drive so many miles.Just ticket over 209 thousand.I had to get my first tuneup. Still ahd factory plugs. These are fine machines.I didn't do anything execpt change the oil and tires and put on a new timing belt every 70,000.The paint sealer did peel really bad in the AZ sun. (The first year I had it it started this.) But I could care less what it looks like.

Treat it good, do the regular things and she will run a long time.Hondas are nomrally very good and can run well up and past 200,000 miles. You may have small repairs very minor hopefully. But that will be normal with any car.

I have a 91 CRX Si, and it is too good to give up. Body is starting to go, seat covers very worn in a certain spot, but the thing just starts up and goes and I recently got 38 mpg on a 3 hour trip [almost 100% highway driving]. There have never been any major problems.

I bought my '91 Civic Si used in '93 with 32,000 miles on it. I still own it today and it has over 150,000 miles on it. I have done factory suggested maintainence on it and changed the oil regularly. Aside from the 90k tune up (which I did extra servicing on, replaced the water pump with the tuneup, $800 servicing), tires, breaks and oil changes, I have had no issues with this car. It still runs great, gets 30-35mpg of mixed driving mileage and the sunroof doesn't leak. It does feel like it's getting a little "long in the teeth" though.

It all depends on your preventative maintainence! You get out what you put in! Excellent preventative maintainence should bring 300,000 no problem! You may have some repairs after 200,000 like an alternator or something but overall it should last! Toyota and Honda both have excellent reputation for their quality and longevity!

As long as the maintanance is done correctly you can expect a good long life with alot of miles, if you dont do the service, it wont last worth anything
