My motor blew last night and i currently drive a 96 civic ex d16y8 and i want to swap it to a motor with more tourque but i was think?of the b18b1 ls/non vtec, with a b16head?would the b18b1 fit in my 96 civic without any major adjustments to the car? and how difficult is it to change it to a vtec.?how much hp and tourque would it make after the its all done?which transmission should i use?not a b20 a b18b1. sorry

As for fit I would I imagine you could shoe horn that thing in there... The B18B1 engine is a great engine strongest of the non-vtec but carries almost the same amount of torque as horse power. 142... They say the B18B1 is great for Turbo charging because you don't have to deal with VTEC b.s. ..Plus it already has like 8 to 1 compression on it.. About making it a Vtec I read a tec artical a long time ago about changing the head and drilling some holes to make this conversion but it made minimal gains... B18B1 is a great money saver.. Thats what I currently have and its been good to me.. You can find a B18B1 for a good price.. well worth the money if you can take the time to build the engine for boost.. The stock transmission is pretty damn bullet proof maybe you could change the ratio and diffs.. But for the most part good trans....Oh yeah if you want torque I heard the Jackson racing super charger is pretty good.. hope this helps
